Fellows Event Scholarship

The COA Fellows Initiative awards travel scholarships for specific events throughout the year to physicians considering employment in the independent community oncology setting. If interested, see below for more information and how to apply.

*Travel scholarship includes airfare and lodging only. Meals will be provided during each event program. All other meals and ground transportation are the responsibility of the recipient.

  • 2024 Community Oncology Conference

    April 4, 2024 7:00 am
  • Spring 2024 Board Meeting

    April 3, 2024 8:00 am
  • 2024 Payer Exchange Summit

    September 9, 2024 12:00 pm

1. Requirements

Each applicant must meet the below criteria to be eligible for a Fellows scholarship. 

  • Applicant must attend the entire session of the applied-for event/meeting.

  • Applicant must attend the Fellows Workshop and all related Fellows educational events scheduled during the applied-for event/meeting.

  • Applicant must be interested in community oncology.

  • Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Hematology/Oncology or Radiation Oncology Fellowship Program.

  • Applicant is willing to write a short assessment of their learning experience post event/meeting.

2. Submission

Each application must include the following items.

  • Updated CV, including PGY status & headshot.
  • A one-page personal statement reflecting on each of the following: 

  • Your personal/professional goals in attending the applied-for event/meeting.
  • The Impact that COA has had on your career decisions thus far.
  • Your likelihood of practicing in the private, community oncology setting.

3. Application Deadlines

Attendance is limited and highly sought after at COA events. Applicants must apply for each event individually. 

  • Fall Board Meeting: September 25, 2024 | Deadline: August 31, 2024

  • Payer Exchange Summit: September 9-10, 2024 | Deadline: August 2, 2024

  • Spring Board Meeting: April 28, 2025 | Deadline: March 3, 2025

  • Annual COA Conference: April 27-28, 2025 | Deadline: March 3, 2025

4. Selection Process

Each application is evaluated by COA staff who maintain frequent contact with the leaders of the community oncology world.

  • Each application must be received in accordance with the above deadlines.

  • Applications are reviewed by the director of the COA Fellows Initiative and Fellows Board members.

  • If you are selected as a scholarship recipient, you will be notified via the email address used to submit the application.
